Our Vision
Our vision is to transform the simple act of receiving a hot lunch into a moment of friendship, warmth and care. By reimaging how meals are delivered to those living alone, we’re creating a more compassionate, connected, and healthier way of caring for each other. One that supports independent living, promotes well-being, and makes every lunchtime more nourishing.
Our Mission
We support people facing loneliness by combining the comfort of a hot meal with meaningful human connection. Our companions are local, bringing a sense of belonging to the community. They come into your home and prepare a hot meal while spending time with you. Through food and friendship, we help people feel seen, heard, and valued.
Our connection is centred around food but allows us to do so much more….
NUTRITION
We support health and wellbeing by providing hot, nutritious and delicious meals, made with the same care and ingredients a good home cook would use. Proper nutrition and companionship early on can reduce the risk of frailty and malnutrition.
SOCIAL CONNECTION
We help people live independently for longer by tackling loneliness and social isolation through meaningful interactions with our companions. The kitchen is the heart of the home, where eating becomes a shared ritual - nurturing wholesome, homely feels as food is prepared.
SUPPORT
We make referrals, share important information, connect people with community services, and respond to identified needs. By signposting and collaborating with social, community, and emergency services, we support a broader system of prevention.
SAFETY
Our companions provide regular welfare checks, offering reassurance to families. Reporting ongoing changes prevents issues from reaching crisis point. Having the same companion means changes are quickly noticed and support stays consistent.

About Us
The Kitchen Companions is a social enterprise set up as Community Interest Company (C.I.C.), meaning profits are reinvested back into the local community. As a C.I.C one of our goals is to create employment opportunities for the local community and reduce unemployment. When local companions spend their earnings it contributes to the local community, which helps the local community grow, which creates a thriving local economy. It creates a positive domino effect that leads to greater investment in the region, fostering innovation, collaboration, and economic growth which enhances our social impact.
